India's emblematic playback singer Asha Bhosle is now featured in the Guinness World Records as the singer with most song recordings in the world. The legendary Asha has indeed recorded more than eleven thousand songs in which she sings solos, as well as duets and choruses, spanning music in more than 1300 films and 20 languages.
The golden voice of Bollywood was awarded this honour at the Asian awards which have taken place in London, which follows a prior similar award granted to Lata Mangeshkar. Asha, who experienced growing fame since 1947 to date, has given the world famous songs such as 'Mehbooba Mehbooba', 'Dum Maaro Dum', ''Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko', 'In Aankhon Ki Masti' and 'O Mera Sona' among many others.
Asha expressed that she always knew that she had sung the most number of songs among all singers but had decided to keep quiet about her achievements. However, music researcher Vishwas Nerurkar wrote a book on the veteran singer and submitted the number of songs she had recorded to the Guinness authorities, therefore resulting in this reward.
As the talented and versatile singer thanked her fans for their support, she invited them to support her debut as an actor. Asha Bhosle will be making her maiden film appearance in the film Maaee. Follow this link to see a video interview of the singing queen regarding the new film.
