The Hong Kong International Film Festival was held this week alongside the 12th Hong Kong Asia Film Financing Forum (Haf). The forum evaluated 29 film projects across 11 countries for international collaboration. The event gathered industry investors, producers and distributors and resulted in Dev Benegal and Satish Kaushik's film script Dead End being awarded the Network of Asian Fantastic Film Award.
Dead End will be a dark comedy based on the true life story of a farmer from Uttar Pradesh who is declared dead on paper and spends almost two decades of his life fighting to prove he is indeed alive. Satish Kaushik will hold the lead role.
Dev Benegal has recently released Gang of Ghosts (the Hindi remake of the excellent Bengali feature comedy Bhooter Bhobyshyot (see our review here), directed by Kahaani's Parambrata Chaterjee).
The Dev Benegal-Satish Kaushik duo has already proven highly successful in the past. Remember our Road, Movie review back in 2010.
